Lupin (pronounced ‘Lup’-h-li-uh), the world’s first erectile dysfunction (ED) medicine, has emerged as a new addition to the well-established treatment.
Its active ingredient is known as tadalafil, which belongs to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
The UK-based manufacturer has introduced a new drug, calledViagra, which promises to treat erectile dysfunction for up to 36 months.
It is the first ED medicine to be approved for sale in the UK and has been available in the market for more than 10 years.
It works by increasing blood flow to the penis, but it also blocks an enzyme called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which causes blood vessels to tighten.
It also blocks the effects of nitric oxide, a chemical produced by the body, which relaxes the muscles in the penis.
Viagra has a half-life of about 4 hours, meaning it stays in the body for up to 36 hours. It does not work immediately, although it can cause an erection at any time.
In its initial formulation, Viagra contained 10mg of the active ingredient. The company says that it is now able to offer a more convenient alternative to traditional ED pills.
However, it is not yet clear how long it will take for the drug to work. The drug has to be started within a few days.
A spokesperson for the manufacturer, which has received approval from the European Medicines Agency for its product, said: ‘We are actively trying to find a solution that works for patients and their partners.
‘We are also working closely with the NHS to understand the safety and effectiveness of this product.
‘Our hope is that the product will be useful for a number of patients with ED, particularly those who cannot take nitric oxide or other PDE5 inhibitors.’
Lupin was launched in the UK in April 2017, following a two-year marketing campaign, which included the introduction of a new line of tablets for use in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
The launch of thepatent is expected to be the first time that a new medication has been approved for sale in the UK.
It is known asor sildenafil citrate. Viagra is the brand name for the drug tadalafil, which belongs to the same group of PDE5 inhibitors as the erectile dysfunction (ED) pill Cialis.
It is a cheaper alternative to Cialis, which is the brand name for the drug Cialis. It is not known if Viagra will be available in the UK.
Viagra is the only medication licensed by the European Medicines Agency for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
